We have used the following books at our school and these are some of our recommended materials.

JAPANESE

1. Japanese for Busy People - Romanised version (This book is our main teaching materials for Japanese Beginner 2 (Lesson 6-11). It comes with a CD containing audio for the dialogues and listening exercises from the text. It is one of the most popular Japanese language textbook series in the world)

2. Japanese Flashcards (Each of the 50 cards features a foreign word, pronunciation, and illustration on one side; and the English translation on the second side. Cards cover a range of essential subjects such as numbers, colours, animals and more. This set is suitable for students of Japanese Beginner 1 and Japanese Beginner 2) class to practise their vocabulary at home)

3. Japanese for Busy People - Book 2 (This book is used as teaching materials for Japanese Preintermediate 1 at SLS)

4. Japanese in a Flash (This set of flashcard is highly- recommended for students of Preintermediate level to review their vocabulary. The flashcards are arranged alphabetically by romanized words. Japanese text, in both kanji and kana, is printed on one side of each card, with Romanized forms and English meanings on the back only. Sample sentences in Japanese (written in both kanji and kana) and English give correct usage for each headword)

VIETNAMESE

1. Quick & Simple Vietnamese by Pimsleur (This series is very helpful to practise listening to Vietnamese at home or in your car. It is useful for any learners who had no friend/ partner to practise Vietnamese with)

2. Pocket Vietnamese Dictionary (This dictionary is very convenient to bring to class to use for your lessons. It is suitable for the first 60 hours of Vietnamese learning at Beginner level)

3. Elementary Vietnamese (This book is not used as the main teaching material in Vietnamese Class at SLS, but it is recommended for students who want to build up good linguistic and grammatical knowledge about the Vietnamese Language. Recommended for students who have finished 20 hours of Beginner and started to take Preintermediate 1)

4. Vietnamese in a Flash - volume 1 (Tuttle Flash Cards" are a comprehensive and well-designed series of flash cards designed to help beginning students of Asian languages memorize and review basic vocabulary items. This is very helpful for students of Pre-intermediate 1 and 2 to practise and expand theirvacabulary at home)

5. Teach Yourself Vietnamese - Dana Healy (This book is only suitable if your focus of learning is conversational skills, and not on pronunciation. The first lesson of the book is a bit too fast for a complete beginner, only recommended if you have a freind to help you or you have learned Vietnamese for about at least 10 hours)

6. Vietnamese Berlitz Concise Dictionary. This dictionary is suitable for any students who aims to learn Vietnamese more than just a Beginner Course. It includes both Vietnamese-English and English-Vietnamese. It is highly recommended. It contains bold, blue headwords which make it easy to navigate around the dictionary quickly. It also has a 48-page activity section includes fun games to improve language skills, including: crosswords, word searches, jumble, and sudoku-style puzzles.

KOREAN

1. Read and Speak Korean (This book is useful for Korean Beginner 2, there are many game cards and activities, which are very facilitating to learning a new language)

2. Korean in a Flash - vol.1 (This set of 448 flashcards is very useful for reviewing and expand vocabulary in Korean language. It is suitable for Beginner and Preintermediate level)

INDONESIAN

1. Indonesian in a Flash. This is very helpful for students of Indonesian Beginner 2, Pre-intermediate 1 and 2 to practise and expand theirvacabulary at home.

2. Indonesian in 60 minutes. This is highly recommended for students of Indonesian Beginner 1 and 2 who wants to practise their listening outside the classtime. This all-audio course covers 250 of the most commonly used words and phrases over a range of subjects. Each word and phrase is repeated to aid easy memorisation and encourage correct pronunciation. It also includes a 16-page accompanying booklet to help associate the written language with the audio. 3.  Collins COBUILD Keywords for IELTS: Book 2. OCCUPATIONAL ENGLISH TEST PREPARATION COURSE

1. English for Nursing.
