    5-hour Vietnamese workshop for travellers

  Upcoming workshop: Sunday 3 October 2010 from 3pm - 8pm

  Fee:  $70  for 5-hour workshop

  • This workshop is for travellers or visitors who will visit Vietnam in the next 3 months, who want to have a very basic level of Vietnamese language to ask very simple questions and to have some understanding about the country.
  • It is designed for those who do not have time to come to class for 10 consecutive weeks or who just want to have a brief knowledge about the language and culture.
  • The workshop is 5 hours, which is on the second Sunday of every two months. In the workshop, you will be taught some basic survival Vietnamese expressions, some cultural dos and donts, some basic tips to bargain, survive and handle the traffic. The workhop also provide some travel tips to help travellers to Vietnam.
  • The workshop participants also watch a short version of Vietnamese movie about getting around, buying fruits and crossing the roads in Vietnam.
  • You can prepare any questions you have about travelling to Vietname and we will try our best to inform you.
  • You are recommended to buy a Lonely Planet Guide in Vietnamese and bring with you on the day. You can also bring a small recorder to record the pronunciation if you would like to do it.

WHO SHOULD JOIN THIS CLASS?

For learners who have no knowledge of the language and want to begin a course of study to be able to communicate with a Vietnamese speaker/partner or friend.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

-  bargain in Vietnamese currency

-  The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.   

-   All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead. If your course does not have enough 5
students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or E-mail. Alternatively, we may still
offer the course for 4 students with a little bit higher tuition fee with your agreement.  

-  You'll need to dedicate approximately 2 to 3 hours per week outside of class time to your course,
mostly to listen to the CD. You can do this at our school after or before class or any time at your
convenience.  

-  If you would like to gain a better idea of our approach to teaching, you are more than welcome to
sit in one of our current class of the same level (if there is one available).

Vietnamese for Beginners 2 (Elementary)

Who should take this class?

Learners who have already finished 20 - 40 hours of Vietnamese Beginner 1.

Learners understand Vietnamese alphabets and can write Vietnamese words. The learners should have the ability to understand simple sentences and make simple conversations. The learners can ask and answer about name, nationality, time, simple direction and days during a week. They can also go shopping, say sorry, thank you, greeting and good bye. They must know how to use addressing terms, classifiers and quantifers in Vietnamese.

Learners want to learn more verbs, noun, vocabulary and improve in sentence structure and fluency.

Learners who have the ability to understand simple sentences and want to improve in vocabulary and fluency. Learners are expected to have previously learned Vietnamese at least 40 hours of  Vietnamese to join Pre-intermediate 1 and at least 60-80 hours of Vietnamese to join Pre-intermediate 2.

We also provide a special program for Vietnamese children where they can learn to decipher the Vietnamese alphabet, tone, etc. 

 

   Vietnamese for the HSC

  • The HSC course provides complete preparation for the HSC in Vietnamese and covers the skills and knowledge required in the Stage 6 syllabus for the HSC examination.
  • We use all assessment tasks supported by the board of studies and past HSC exam papers including listening CDs in our lessons to intensively support students to prepare for HSC exams.
  • We are also in regular contact with high school teachers, which allows us to keep up to date with any changes in curricula and have a source of valuable and current teaching materials.
