  • To receive the 15% discount, the enrolment must be completed and paid in full by Monday 9th January 2012.
  • Voucher must be presented and collected when booking for the course. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.
  • Voucher cannot be changed for cash, or refunded. Voucher is only valid for Spanish and German language courses at BEGINNER 1 & BEGINNER 2 level.

Meet our Spanish Teacher

Pablo Lucero

Qualifications: 

Pablo Lucero hold a Degree in Computer Science from a US College, and several Financial Services Certifications from Australian Institutions.

Experience

Pablo Lucero has been teaching Spanish in Australia for almost 10 years, He teaches all levels of Spanish, from beginners to advanced, and also teach both methods the Latin American and the Spaniard method. 

He is currently teaching Spanish at a Community College in Sydney, and also tutors privately to several Company Executives as well as students. He taught Spanish and Computer Science courses at US Colleges and privately, for several years, prior to moving to Australia.

  • We offer 1-to-1 Spanish tutorial for HSC

  • The HSC tutorial provides complete assistance to your study in Spanish HSC (all level). The tutorial will help you to cover the skills and knowledge required in HSC.

  • We are also very flexible in any topics that you would like to learn.

  • We can help you with your homework or train you for your upcoming Spanish HSC exam.

Spanish Beginners 1

Who should take this class?

Learners who have no knowledge of the language, wants to begin a course of study and wants to know simple words and phrases to start communicating with a Spanish friend/partner/speaker

Program

Week 1    Introduction to Spanish tones and sound system, Alphabet/Characters - Identification and Pronunciation 

Week 2    Greetings / Making negative sentences/ Telling the time-Numbers  Days of the week - Months of  the year / Seasons and weather

Week 3    Asking for nationality  / countries / Professions / Gender

Week 4    Verb Conjugations / Use of the verb “to Be” / Reflexives

Week 5    At the restaurant - Asking for some food & drink items

Week 6    At the hotel - Names & forms of address

Week 7    On the street - Asking for directions to specific places

Week 8    Going shopping/ Bargaining

Week 9    Using the Future tense / Emergencies

Week 10  Direct and Indirect Object pronouns

Expected Outcome

By the end of this course students will be able to: 

  • pronounce all the sounds and tones in Spanish
  • say hello, goodbye, thank you and greetings
  • tell and listen to the time
  • say numbers, weeks, months and years
  • order food at a restaurant
  • ask a receptionist at a hotel
  • asking for direction
  • get a taxi or buying a train ticket
  • currency exchange

Course Duration:      10 weeks, 2 hours session per week (20 hours in total)

The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.      

  • All classes need a minimum of 4 students to go ahead.
  • If your course does not have enough 4 students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or E-mail. Alternatively, we may still offer the course for less than 4 students with a little bit higher tuition fee with your agreement.
  • You'll need to dedicate approximately 2 to 3 hours per week outside of class time to your course, mostly to listen to the CD. You can do this at our school after or before class or any time at your convenience.    
  • If you would like to gain a better idea of our approach to teaching, you are more than welcome to sit in one of our current class of the same level.

   
 

Spanish Beginners 2

Who should take this class?

This course helps you to develop your fluency and conversation skills in a range of contexts, and build your vocabulary to levels which will allow you greater experience and    appreciation of the culture and its people. This course assumes previous language study in Spanish (through completing Beginner 1 Level).

In each session there will be great emphasis given to pronunciation (in groups and pairs), which will enhance one’s fluency for communicating in Spanish.

Additional resources may be used (eg. teacher’s own music, video etc.) where available and where suitable for the needs of the class.

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of this course the students will be able to:

  • Build up/extend grammar knowledge (e.g. future/conditional)
  • Past tenses – (at least 3 different types)
  • Future Tenses – (3 different types)
  • Introduction to the Subjunctive mode
  • Speak more confidently with correct pronunciation and extended vocabulary – topic based conversations/discussions in combination with present, past and future tenses
  • Read to gain understanding and information
  • Use conversational skills to solve problems, ask questions, to participate in exchange of views according to the Spanish etiquette
  • Appreciate the Spanish culture, geography and customs

Course Duration:      14 weeks, 1.5 hours session per week (21 hours in total)

Spanish for Pre-Intermediate 1

Who should take this class?

Learners who have the ability to understand simple sentences and want to improve in vocabulary and fluency.                     

Program

During this course the intention is that most of the following topics will be covered, however not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Self and others’ descriptions & enquiries – oral and written
  • Situations speaking/reading/listening in various contexts
  • Relating past events and experiences
  • Emergency – Health, Fire, Police – seeking help (asking questions) in situational contexts like sickness, loss of property, etc.
  • Writing notes/messages – learning and practicing new vocabulary, grammar through intermediate writing tasks
  • Practice through role-play participation in exchange of views (asking questions, using new vocabulary, improving fluency in pronunciation, practicing conversational techniques and skills to solve problems, to accept/refuse an offer or an invitation in Spanish)

Week 2           Making bookings for hotel accommodation & restaurants 

Week 3           Getting and Giving information

Week 4           Making purchases and practicing bargaining

Week 5           Methods of payment (cash, credit card, traveller’s cheques)    

Week 6           Expressing likes and dislikes  

Week 7           Talking about the quality of items

Week 8           Describing Events

Week 9           Reading & reconstructing two Spanish stories 

Week 10         Revision

  • reading Spanish stories
  • making polite requests
  • describe an item and its quality
  • reviewing classifiers
  • building more complex sentence structure
