Meet Indonesian Teacher of SLS
Gerardus Gerry Yuwono
Qualification:
Gerry is a native speaker of Indonesian. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce - Management from University of Sydney.
Teaching Experience:
Gerry has had a lot of experience in teaching Indonesian to English-Speaker. Once before, he trained a representative of Meat and Livestock Australia who are going to be relocated to Indonesia. Many found him very enthusiastic and very good in answering student's doubt about the Indonesian language. He is a creative person who always try to make his lesson interesting as well as enriching for his students.
With his fluency in English, he can easily explain his own language from an English Speaker perspective, making it easy to understand. He can adjust his language accordingly to the people that he speaks to. Gerry also has a strong knowledge of Indonesian culture in Australia as well as in Indonesia that is established from his significant involvement in the Indonesian community in Sydney. One of his major skill is public speaking, especially in Indonesian.

Who should take this course?
The level would suit a traveller or a complete beginner who has no prior knowledge of the language. The student will start on all the basic fluency and proficiency skills - speaking, reading, listening and writing . The course aims provide the student with enough vocabulary and basic grammar rules to communicate with confidence in simple real life situations.

Please Note:
- The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.
- All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead. If your course does not have enough students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or email. Alternatively, we may still offer the course for 4 students with a slightly higher tuition fee with your agreement.
- You will need to dedicate approximately 2 to 3 hours per week outside of class time to the course, mostly to listen to the CD. You can do this at our school after or before class or any time at your convenience.

Indonesian for Beginners 2 (Elementary)
Who should take this class?
Learners who have finished about 20 to 40 hours of Indonesian Beginner 1.
The learners should have the ability to understand simple sentences and make simple conversations.
The learners can ask and answer about name, nationality, time, simple direction and days during a week. They can also say sorry, thank you, greeting and good bye.
Learners want to learn more verbs, noun, vocabulary and improve in sentence structure and fluency.

This workshop is for travellers or visitors who will visit Indonesia in the next 3 months, who want to know very basic Indonesian phrases to ask very simple questions and to have some understanding about the country.

It is designed for those who do not have time to come to class for 10 consecutive weeks or who just want to have a brief knowledge about the language and culture.

The workshop is 4 hours. In the workshop, you will be taught some basic survival Indonesian expressions, some cultural dos and donts, some basic tips to bargain, survive and handle the traffic.

The workhop also provides some travel tips to help travellers to Indonesian.

The workshop participants also watch a short version of Indonesian movie about getting around and doing shopping in Indonesia.

You can prepare any questions you have about travelling to Indoensian and we will try our best to inform you.

We will also hand out the training materials to you, but you can also bing along your Lonely Planet Guide in Indonesian (if you have) on the day. You can also bring a small recorder to record the pronunciation if you would like to do it.
