Who should take this class?

Learners who have no knowledge of the language, who wants to begin a course of study and to know simple words and phrases to start communicating with a Arabic friend/partner/speaker

Week 1    Introduction to Arabic Language system

Alphabet/Characters - Identification and Pronunciation

Week 2    Greetings

Week 3    Asking for nationality

Week 4    Telling the time - Numbers - Days of the week - Months of the year

Week 5    At the restaurant - Asking for some food & drink items

Week 6    At the hotel - Names & forms of address

Week 7    On the street - Asking directions to specific places

Week 8    Going shopping - money - Shopping for souvenirs

Week 9    How to get to a place (getting a taxi)

Week 10    Seasons and weather

Expected Outcomes:

By the end of this course students will be able to:

• say hello, goodbye, thank you and greetings
• tell and listen to the time
• say numbers, weeks, months and years
• order food at a restaurant
• ask a receptionist at a hotel
• asking for direction
• get a taxi or buying a train ticket

Course Duration:          10 weeks, 2 hour session per week
